Use the Off Season to Improve your Website for 2020
It’s 2020! That means it is almost halfway through golf’s off season here in Canada. Did you have any goals you set to achieve in your off season? Was one of them reviewing your website to ensure it was up-to-date and relevant? If it wasn’t, it should have been.
Your website should be the hub of your marketing plan and is often the first impression new golfers have of your facility. When you read this, does that scare you?
At YasGolf, we’re here to help. We have put together a quick checklist for you that will help you review your website and see if it is doing what it is supposed to be doing. Here are a few of the main check points:
Is your Website Mobile Friendly?
Despite the overwhelming stat that most website visitors now come to your website via their mobile device, a large percentage of courses do not have a mobile friendly website.
Even further to our point of the importance of having a mobile friendly site Google recently announced that mobile friendly websites will rank higher on search engines on mobile devices than websites that are not. This is huge! Is Google really going to force everyone to improve their website design if they expect to be found on their search engine on mobile devices? Yes.
If your website was built years ago, then it probably isn’t mobile-friendly. To find out if it is or not though, you can use Google’s mobile test tool.
Are you using High Quality Images and Video?
Images and video greatly enhance the quality of a website. Bright inviting images can really sell your brand and your facility. The images you use can create emotion and drive someone to want to play at your course.
If a pictures can say 1000 words, a video can say a million. Video is a growing trend on websites and is a great way for golfers to experience your course before coming out. Here are a few websites that are utilizing video well, including one we developed ourselves, Cooke Municipal Golf Course.
